Federal Judge Amy Coney Barrett showcased her deep legal knowledge Tuesday during her Supreme Court confirmation hearing when asked to hold up her notes that she brought to the proceedings.

“Most of us have multiple notebooks and notebooks and notes and books and things like that in front of us,” Texas Sen. John Cornyn said. “Can you hold up what you’ve been referring to in answering our questions?”

Barrett simply raised a blank sheet before the senators.

“Is there anything on it?” Cornyn followed.

“That letter head that says United States Senate,” Barrett said.

“That’s impressive,” Cornyn said.

The moment captured the fascination of those watching in agreement with the Texas senator as the federal judge sits for hours answering senators’ questions on complex issues regarding the judiciary.

The moment also became an instant online meme.

The 48-year-old judge and former law professor at Notre Dame was nominated to fill the vacant seat left by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who passed away last month due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg was 87.
