Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, following his team’s loss in Super Bowl 2021 on Sunday, issued a statement about the car crash that involved his son and has a 5-year-old girl fighting for her life.

“My heart goes out to all those that were involved in the accident, in particular the family with the little girl who is fighting for her life,” Reid said after the Chiefs fell to the Buccaneers, 31-9. “From a human standpoint, my heart bleeds for everybody involved.”

Britt Reid, the 35-year-old son of Andy Reid and outside linebackers coach for the Chiefs, is being investigated for driving impaired following a multi-vehicle crash Thursday night in Missouri.

A young girl identified by her family as “Ariel” was in critical condition as of Sunday due to injuries sustained in the crash.

“Ariel who just turned 5 years old suffered swelling in the brain and bleeding around her brain, she hasn’t woken since the crash,” the girl’s aunt, Tiffany Verhulst, wrote on GoFundMe.

Britt Reid did not coach in Sunday’s game.
