Deliveryman killed in Upper East Side hit-and-run identified by NYPD

The deliveryman who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on the Upper East Side was identified early Monday as a local pizzeria employee from East Harlem, according to cops.

The worker, identified as Ernesto Guzman, 42, was riding north on an e-bike along Second Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by a black Chevy Tahoe heading west on 97th Street, cops said.

Guzman, who worked for G&J’s Pizzeria on East 104th Street near Third Avenue and lived on nearby East 108th Street, was discovered lying on the roadway with trauma to his body, police said.

He was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The unidentified SUV driver sped off, and the vehicle was later discovered abandoned at 96th Street and Third Avenue.

No arrests had been made by Monday morning.
