The Devils postponed three more games as their COVID-19 problems continue.
The Devils, who had three games pushed back last week, will now have to reschedule Thursday and Saturday games against the Flyers and Feb. 15 versus Boston.
On Monday, the Devils added Nico Hischier, Sami Vatanen, and Connor Carrick to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list, which now totals 19 players. Those on the list have not necessarily tested positive for COVID.
They’re not alone. The Sabres and Wild, with nine players apiece on the protocol list, had two games apiece postponed.
“All three organizations have, and will continue to follow, all recommended guidelines aimed at protecting the health and safety of their players, staff and community at large as set by the NHL, local, state and national agencies,” the league said in the statement.
The Devils played Jan. 31 against the Sabres, with neither taking the ice since. New Jersey went so far as to close its facilities to active players indefinitely on Feb. 1.
The NHL has postponed 33 games this season, with 15 still to be rescheduled.
