From one first lady to another.
Michelle Obama received a surprise care package from newly minted first lady Jill Biden — straight from the White House Kitchen Garden.
The former first lady shared an Instagram photo of the hearty bounty of vegetables, including kale and broccoli, along with a sweet message of thanks.
“So thankful for this beautiful care package from our amazing @FLOTUS!” Obama wrote in the Tuesday post. “These fresh veggies from the White House Kitchen Garden were such a wonderful — and delicious — surprise. Love you, Jill!”
The 2,800-square-foot White House Kitchen Garden was planted by Obama in 2009, when her former president husband Barack Obama first took office.
The grounds were the apple of Michelle’s eye — and the subject of her 2012 book “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America,” which promotes healthy eating.
The patch, which features an array of fruits, vegetables and herbs, follows a rich history of gardening at the White House dating back to 1797, when President John Adams dreamed up the first veggie garden.
The garden supplies roughly 2,000 pounds of fresh food each year for the White House and any food that isn’t used is donated to charities in Washington, DC.

Michelle and Biden have shared a close friendship since their husbands’ time in office.
The former first lady came to Biden’s defense in December following a Wall Street Journal op-ed arguing that Biden should drop her “Dr.” title.

“For eight years, I saw Dr. Jill Biden do what a lot of professional women do —successfully manage more than one responsibility at a time, from her teaching duties to her official obligations in the White House to her roles as a mother, wife, and friend,” Michelle wrote on Instagram with a snap of the pair.
“Dr. Biden gives us a better example. And this is why I feel so strongly that we could not ask for a better First Lady.”
