The Issue: The House impeachment and Senate trial of former President Donald Trump.

I’m hoping Donald Trump is convicted and disqualified from ever running for office ever again (“Dodging Dem firebrands,” Feb. 10).

The House of Representatives impeached him for his incitement of an armed insurrection against the United States government to throw out the results of the 2020 election. Now the Senate must act.

Trump must be barred from ever holding public office again! The Senate needs to hold him accountable for his attack on our democracy and the rule of law.

Democrats continue to embarrass themselves and make a mockery of the Constitution. It’s quite evident their fear of Trump continues to be their priority as clueless sleepy Joe Biden is their puppet-in-command.

An acquittal is likely and the farce will continue to the next point of hatred for the man who accomplished everything he promised (and then some) single-handedly for the past four years.

Trump is guilty of inciting the riot on Jan. 6 by his own admission in a speech at at least one rally and on Twitter.

He must pay for his crimes against the Capitol and all members of Congress, particularly House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Mike Pence, who he was angry with for not following his orders to overturn the legitimate election of President Joe Biden.

He must be found guilty as his impeachment charged and forbidden to receive anything normally awarded to past presidents.

He is by far the most dangerous president our nation has ever had and we must protect our country and our Congress from his ever attempting to run again.

This impeachment by the Democrats is just to stop Trump from running again in 2024. It is also designed to split the Republican Party so that it won’t be able to win the House and Senate in 2022. By denigrating Trump in this trial, they expect to completely take him out of the picture henceforth.

But, if I know Donald Trump, he is not going to let that happen. As soon as this farce is over, I expect him to come out roaring and fighting to get rid of these phony and hateful Democrats, including the old man now in the White House.

Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for insisting on an impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump — which is nothing but a farce and a waste of time.

Here we are, in the midst of a pandemic, with more important things to focus on than convicting Trump, who has already left office. But it’s apparent that Democrats are hell-bent on causing more divisiveness, which is counterproductive to the unification of our nation. And the only reason Democrats want to convict Trump is to ensure he won’t run again.

No doubt they’re afraid he will win again.

The riot at the US Capitol was not an insurrection. It was a riot. The American Revolution was an insurrection. The American Civil War was an insurrection.

Most media, Democrats and other leftist propagandists purposely use the term insurrection. They do it to hype an ugly riot to a higher order of magnitude to demonize Trump and his supporters. None of the rioters in DC were carrying AK47s or AR15s, as they were in Seattle and other cities.

This is just another example of hypocrisy by the Democrats. These are the very same people who claimed that the violent riots run by Antifa and Black Lives Matter were peaceful demonstrations.

What they don’t realize is that they are embarrassing everyone, hoping the impeachment trial is not shown worldwide, too. They seem to forget they were elected to work for their constituents, not spend time on yet another witch hunt.
