Netflix’s ‘Behind Her Eyes’ Gets Its First Trippy Trailer

Think adultery is the worst thing that can happen in a marriage? Well, think again. Netflix has just released the first trailer for Behind Her Eyes, its upcoming psychological thriller from Hannibal and Marvel’s Iron Fist’s Steve Lightfoot. Get ready to feel deeply uncomfortable about committing your life to one person.

Behind Her Eyes is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Sarah Pinborough. The thriller follows secretary and single mom Louise. One night Louise kisses a stranger at a bar, a man she later realizes is her married boss. Racked with guilt, Louise becomes convinced this unintentional infidelity is the worst thing she can possibly do. At least, that’s the case until she meets David’s wife Adele and learns the extent of their warped relationship.

The original novel was well received by critics. Author Joe Hill, known for NOS4A2 and The Fireman, even likened it to Hitchcock. It seems as though the miniseries adaptation is keeping that perfectly spun tension in tact. In the trailer, Simona Brown’s Louise ominously says, “They’re both happier with me then they are with each other.” That insightful look into a failing marriage is then paired with footage of someone looking down a well, a body being dragged, and Eve Hewson’s Adele smiling just a bit too wide. You know, your standard “something is seriously wrong with these people” spookiness.

Behind Her Eyes stars The Night Manager and Kiss Me First’s Simona Brown; The Knick and Bridge of Spies‘ Eve Hewson; Murder on the Orient Express‘ Tom Bateman; and Game of Thrones‘ Robert Aramayo. The miniseries is written by Lightfoot and Angela LaManna and produced by Left Bank Pictures, the production company best known for creating The Crown. That sort of pedigree and this amount of creepiness in a single trailer? We already know this is our new obsession. Behind Her Eyes premieres on Netflix right after Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, February 17.
