The Queens mom who tossed her newborn son out a bathroom window told cops she just showered and took a nap afterward, according to court papers Tuesday.
Sabita Dookram, 23, was arraigned on charges including attempted murder after allegedly giving birth in a bathtub at her family’s South Ozone Park home Saturday and throwing her baby from the window.
“I gave birth yesterday afternoon,’’ Dookram told police investigators Sunday, according to a criminal complaint.
“I cut the cord with a scissor from the bathroom. I panicked and threw it out of the bathroom window. I did not check on the baby, I put my clothes in the laundry hamper in the bathroom, I showered and went to sleep.’’
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz revealed the extent of the infant’s horrific injuries in a statement Tuesday.
“An examination of the newborn at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center revealed that the baby sustained a traumatic brain injury with bleeding and swelling about the brain and scalp and an abdominal injury with internal bleeding,’’ Katz said.
