‘SNL’ Has Oscars Fever, Taps Daniel Kaluuya and Carey Mulligan as April Hosts

Saturday Night Live fans can expect more of Maya Rudolph‘s Kamala Harris this spring, as the former star is slated to host on Saturday, March 27. Rudolph’s episode will kick off three consecutive weeks of new shows, with Judas and the Black Messiah star Daniel Kaluuya hosting on April 3, and Promising Young Woman‘s Carey Mulligan hosting on April 10.

SNL announced its late March to early April schedule in a tweet posted Tuesday afternoon. While news of Rudolph’s hosting gig was released in February, Kaluuya and Mulligan’s, as well as their respective musical guests, had not been previously announced. The full SNL lineup for the next three episodes is as follows:

Saturday March 27
Host: Maya Rudolph
Musical Guest: Jack Harlow

Saturday, April 3
Host: Daniel Kaluuya
Musical Guest: St. Vincent

Saturday, April 10
Host: Carey Mulligan
Musical Guest: Kid Cudi

Rudolph’s appearance on March 27 will mark her second time as host (she previously hosted in 2012), although she’s no stranger to the show. The veteran actress starred on the NBC comedy from 2000 to 2007 and quickly made a name for herself as a strong impressionist. Over the past few years, Rudolph has been a member of the show’s ever-expanding political ensemble, appearing in multiple cold opens and sketches as Sen. Kamala Harris, first as a presidential candidate, then as Joe Biden’s running mate, and now as vice president.

Unlike Rudolph, Kaluuya and Mulligan are SNL newbies. Neither actor has hosted the show before, but expectations will be high as Oscars season reaches a fever pitch in April. Kaluuya and Mulligan are both favored to win in the Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress categories, respectively, but the Judas and the Black Messiah star seems to have a leg up, as he previously won the Golden Globe for his role as Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton, while Mulligan ultimately lost out to The United States vs. Billie Holiday star Andra Day.
