Donald Trump will never tweet again.
The former president’s ban from Twitter is permanent and will not be lifted even if he runs for office in the future or even wins back the White House, according to a top executive at the social network.
In an interview with CNBC, the company’s chief financial officer Ned Segal said the platform will not lift Trump’s suspension that was enacted after the company cited his alleged role in inciting the deadly insurrection at the US Capitol on Jan 6.
In response to a direct question on Trump’s chances of getting his account back if he sought and won another election, Segal was explicit.
“When you’re removed from the platform, you’re removed from the platform,” he said. “Remember, our policies are designed to make sure that people are not inciting violence.”
Segal also pushed back against the perception that Trump’s absence has been bad for Twitter’s business model, stating that the company added more users in January than it had in the previous four Januarys.
Twitter stock was up almost 12 percent in early trading Wednesday.
