'It’s Election Day so I wanted to come here to vote': Melania casts her 2020 vote in Florida

Melania Trump was seen casting her ballot in-person in Florida on Tuesday.

The first lady voted in Palm Beach, Florida, near her home at Mar-a-Lago. She did not vote with President Trump last week but told reporters, “it’s Election Day, so I wanted to come here to vote today for the election.”

She wore a white, sleeveless midi Gucci dress, nude Christian Louboutin pumps, carried a Hermès Kelly bag, and donned leopard print sunglasses, which the Daily Express estimated cost $20,000 all in.

Trump was the only person not wearing a mask in the Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Center, the Associated Press reported.

The first lady’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, told the Associated Press that Trump was the only voter at the polling station, and members of her entourage were tested for COVID-19 beforehand. Grisham said no one was near Trump “because of social distancing and privacy.”

The first lady’s decision to go to the polls mask-free did not go unnoticed by major media outlets, with NPR and the New York Times highlighting her choice. Palm Beach County is under a mask mandate, but by order of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, fines cannot be enforced.

The first lady was criticized by comedian Michael Rappaport, who called her “selfish” and “miserable” in response to her lack of mask.

Trump has been active in the final days of her husband’s campaign, taking to the campaign trail and delivering speeches. On a swing through Pennsylvania, she told a crowd of Trump’s supporters that Joe Biden has a “socialist agenda,” and criticized his comments on COVID-19.

“Joe Biden attacked President Trump’s decision to put the American people first and closing travel from China. He called it ‘xenophobic hysteria.’ Now, he suggests that he could have done a better job. Well, the American people can look at Joe Biden’s 36 years in Congress and eight years in the vice presidency and determine whether they think he’ll finally be able to get something done for the American people,” she said.
